THE SECRET OF HOW CURRENCY WARFARE IS USED TO TRANSITION POWER IN THE 2023 ELECTIONS WITHOUT BRINGING THE NATION TO ITS HANDS AND KNEES:
Warfare is defined as an engagement in or the activities involved in war or conflict. They say when two elephants fights, the grass suffers. There exist many types of warfare such as technological warfare, food warfare, information warfare, etc. For victory to be won in warfare, many strategies are usually put in place. I have never witnessed warfare whereby money was weaponized this way as done currently in Nigeria. In all elections, there is a peaceful rivalry.
Providing or withholding food during times of conflict can be just as potent a weapon as guns, bombs, etc. During the Biafra war, food was used to wield the victory of the war in favor of Nigeria by Southwestern Nigerians. Why feed those you fight against? Fast forward to 2023, different warfare happened. This is what a call currency warfare.
How did it all begin? Shortly before the presidential elections in Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria made a policy on redesigning our currency and therefore urged all Nigerians to pay into the banks, all old notes for a redesigned new note. Nigerians did as instructed on a fixed deadline but were not given new notes as promised by the Federal Government and commercial banks.
This malicious policy has thrown the entire nation into an economic and political quagmire, leaving both the rich and the poor in agony. Among all the presidential candidates contesting the 2023 election, Tinubu was the only person that stood for the masses against this evil policy of redesigning the currency. According to him, if they cannot make adequate funds available to the masses, then it is anti-people. Some people thought it will only affect him but now every Nigerian is crying and feeling the pains of the policy.
Shortly after the elections, policies on the use of old naira notes were reversed although the exists a mild scarcity of old naira notes thus giving rise to an increase in transactions using e-channels. Who weaponized scarcity of naira notes against Nigerians? CBN? FG? INEC? Did the scarcity of naira notes aid free and fair elections in Nigeria? Although not convenient at all, I would say currency warfare was a brilliant one. Can we now have our old notes back? Thank you.
